Tankless Water Heater Installation & Service in Atlanta, GA

Tired of running out of hot water during back-to-back showers?

Tired of running out of hot water during back-to-back showers? A tankless water heater might be the perfect solution for your Atlanta home. At Henson Mechanical, we specialize in installing, repairing, and maintaining high-efficiency tankless water heaters that provide unlimited hot water on demand while significantly reducing your energy bills.

What Is a Tankless Water Heater?

Unlike traditional tank water heaters that constantly heat and store 40-50 gallons of water, tankless systems—also called on-demand water heaters—heat water instantly as it flows through the unit. This means you only heat water when you actually need it, making tankless systems far more energy-efficient. Tankless water heaters have become increasingly popular among Atlanta homeowners seeking to lower utility costs while enjoying superior performance and reliability.

Why Atlanta Homeowners Choose Tankless Systems

Energy Efficiency & Lower Bills: Tankless water heaters use 24-34% less energy than traditional tank models, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. In Georgia's warm climate, this efficiency advantage is even more pronounced since your unit works less to reach desired temperatures. Many homeowners see noticeable reductions in monthly energy bills within the first few months of installation.

Unlimited Hot Water: Say goodbye to the frustration of running out of hot water. Tankless systems provide continuous hot water for multiple simultaneous uses—multiple showers, laundry, and dishwashing all at once without compromising water temperature.

Space-Saving Design: Tankless units are compact wall-mounted systems that take up a fraction of the space required by traditional 50-gallon tanks. This is especially valuable in smaller Atlanta homes or apartments where space is at a premium.

Longer Lifespan: Most tankless water heaters last 20+ years with proper maintenance, compared to 8-12 years for traditional tanks. This longevity translates to better long-term value and fewer replacement cycles.

Environmental Benefits: By consuming less energy, tankless systems reduce your home's carbon footprint and qualify for various federal tax credits and rebates.

Tankless Water Heater Installation Process

When you choose Henson Mechanical for your tankless water heater installation, you can expect a professional, hassle-free process:

1. In-Home Assessment: Our certified technicians evaluate your home's hot water demand, existing plumbing configuration, and gas or electrical supply. We'll determine the right size and capacity to meet your family's needs.

2. System Selection: We install all major brands including Rinnai, Navien, EcoSmart, and Takagi. Our team helps you select the system that offers the best balance of performance, efficiency, and budget for your specific situation.

3. Professional Installation: Our licensed plumbers handle all aspects of installation, including proper venting (for gas models), electrical connections, water line modifications, and integration with your existing plumbing system.

4. Thorough Testing: After installation, we test all connections, water temperature, and gas/electric supply to ensure everything operates at peak efficiency and safety.

5. Customer Training: We walk you through operation, maintenance requirements, and how to get the most from your new system.

Types of Tankless Water Heaters

Gas Tankless Water Heaters: These models use natural gas or propane to instantly heat water and are ideal for homes with existing gas lines. They offer higher flow rates and are often more cost-effective for larger families.

Electric Tankless Water Heaters: Perfect for homes without gas service, electric models require proper electrical infrastructure but offer excellent efficiency and require less maintenance than gas units.

Hybrid Systems: Some homeowners opt for hybrid solutions combining tankless technology with traditional tanks for maximum efficiency and reliability.

Cost Savings & Return on Investment

While tankless water heaters have higher upfront costs than traditional tanks ($800-$3,500+ depending on the model), the long-term savings are substantial:

  • Average energy savings of 24-34% annually
  • Reduced hot water loss through long pipes
  • Fewer emergency repairs and replacements
  • Potential tax credits and rebates (up to $300+ federal)
  • Georgia offers various state-level efficiency incentives

For many Atlanta families, the system pays for itself within 5-8 years through energy bill reductions alone.

Maintenance & Care

To keep your tankless water heater running optimally for 20+ years:

Annual Professional Maintenance: We recommend annual inspections and descaling (especially in areas with hard water) to prevent mineral buildup that reduces efficiency.

Regular Filter Cleaning: Monthly filter checks and periodic replacement maintain optimal water flow and protect internal components.

Professional Repairs: If you notice issues like inconsistent water temperature, reduced flow, or strange sounds, contact us immediately. Early intervention prevents costly repairs.

Tankless Water Heater Repair Services

Even the most reliable tankless systems occasionally need professional attention. Common issues include:

  • Temperature fluctuations or inconsistent hot water
  • Low water pressure or flow rate
  • Error codes or warning lights
  • Mineral buildup from hard water
  • Gas ignition problems

Henson Mechanical provides rapid response for tankless water heater repairs. Our certified technicians diagnose issues quickly and provide transparent cost estimates before proceeding with repairs.

I got lucky to have Jake come out to service my HVAC. He did a fantastic and thorough job inspecting the equipment. He explained everything in detail and a was a great person overall to interact with. Highly recommend this company and Jake. Update: Two days later Nick and a colleague came to install a furnace for me after a crack was found in the initial inspection. They did an amazing job with the install. They would not leave without making sure I was satisfied. Highly recommend!!

Sean Woodrum from Henson Mechanical did an excellent job servicing my AC. He was professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He thoroughly checked the upstairs unit, cleaned it, reviewed the thermostats, and inspected the outdoor unit while clearly explaining what he found and what to expect going forward. The guys were informative and prompt. They walked me through the process and answered all questions. They cleaned up nicely also! I’m happy with the results. Thanks Steve

Sean came on 9/20 and said transformer was blown. 9/21 Sean installed a new transformer and fixed the electrical issue causing it to blow. Next morning ac is out again. Scotty comes and said I need a new blower motor or a whole new unit (mine is 6 yrs old). He said he couldn’t do anything to get it working. Called Estes and they came same day and fixed the blown transformer that Sean replaced on 9/21. Electrical issue was not fixed properly by Sean and thus it went out again. Estes fixed everything (electrical issue and new transformer) and 2 weeks later still running well. Jeremy the field manger said he wouldn’t refund my money for the cost of the part and labor (wasn’t asking for dispatch fee back) bc I didn’t call them again to come and fix it. Why would I have the same company come a 4th time when they proved the first 3 times they couldn’t do it? And then Scotty diagnosed a whole new problem and tried to rip me off by telling me I needed a $1200 blower motor or $8k brand new unit. Mine isn’t even at half its lifespan. Completely unprofessional and only trying to upsell. I spent 4 days with no ac in Georgia heat. I even kept the transformer they installed (see photos for serial number) to show it was blown again. Jeremy tried to claim it blew AFTER Scotty left and I didn’t call them to fix it. When Scotty left there was no ac at all so he did nothing anyways. I did call you to come and fix the problem and your tech told me he couldn’t do anything. Have tried to resolve this with them to no avail. I’ll be contacting the BBB and letting everyone in my community know not to use this company. UPDATE: Steve called me and was extremely sympathetic. He explained that this is not how they conduct business, I shouldn’t have to pay for services that were not properly rendered and agreed to give me a full refund and coach the techs who handled this. Within 10 minutes he called again to confirm my credit card would be credited. He stood up for me when no one was listening and made it right- which is all I asked for when the beginning. This company stands behind their work and has integrity and for that I say KUDOS. Thank you for making this right!!!

Sean was excellent. He came right on time, listening to my concerns, and educated me on what my “blown candle” smell really was. Turns out it was nothing and he still had a smile on his face and spent time telling me how the system works and when I should have concerns in the future. I would...

I would easily use this company again and ask for Sean specifically.

We called Casteel to help us figure out what was wrong with our basement heating unit. We knew upfront that the cost was $90 for someone to come out. We were then told it would be another $285 for the technician to do a leak test even though we told him where the leak was. We agreed to both of these costs. He said Casteel "was not in the business of repairing coils" but they would give us a quote if we wanted one. He then told us the cost to repair the coils would be approximately $6500 (even though the coil was still covered by Trane's warranty) or we could replace the unit for approximately $15,000. Mind you, we have lived in this new construction, custom built home for 5 years. When I asked about this unit being so new, he told me "It's mechanical and mechanical things break." We were put off by the astronomical quote, the attitude and the feeling that we were getting scammed to some degree. We took the quotes and told him we were going to check with other companies. We got a referral to a smaller company, Henson Mechanical out of Monroe, Ga. They are a smaller, family owned business. We explained what we learned from Casteel, but we did not tell them what they wanted to charge us. Henson did not charge us to come out to our home, they did not run another test, and they were very responsive to our questions. The owner of Henson came out himself (arrived around 8:15 in the morning) and said he didn't need to run a test; he said he could see where it was leaking without a test. He gave us a quote of $2700 to replace the coils. Since the unit was still under warranty, Mr. Henson went out to Duluth, picked up the warrantied part, and had his guys replace the coil all by 3:00 that afternoon. The two men from Henson that fixed our heater were professional, polite, and knew what they were doing. To say our experiences with the two companies are night and day would be an understatement. We literally spent less than half of the repair price given to us by Casteel for the same work. We even signed up for Henson's annual maintenance plan for $225 per year, and we still were less than half of Casteel's original quote. Please do not use Casteel. They are overpriced and put their financial gain before their customers. We will continue to use smaller, family owned businesses like Henson Mechanical whenever possible. We could not recommend Henson Mechanical more, and we are thankful for the referral to them. You get people who care with better customer service and cost. Thankful we were smart enough to get a second opinion!
